Suddenlink Begins Offering HDTV In Iberia, St. Martin and Vermilion Parishes
Service Enhancement Follows Move to All-Digital TV Lineupam

NEW IBERIA, La. (Nov. 29, 2011) – After completing an upgrade to an all-digital TV lineup in Iberia, St. Martin and Vermilion Parishes, Suddenlink has begun offering numerous high-definition (HD) TV channels in the areas it serves.

HDTV offers a widescreen format, similar to a movie theater, with distinctly sharper and clearer images and better sound quality than standard TV. Not all networks or stations offer HD programming.

Four “HD Broadcast” tier channels include broadcast stations – KATC HD (ABC), KADN HD (FOX), KLFY HD (CBS) and WVLA HD (NBC).

More than a dozen HD channels are available on Suddenlink’s “HD Basic” tier of service, which is available free to customers who lease the equipment required to enable HD viewing. They include: USA HD, Lifetime HD, Disney HD, ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD, HGTV HD, TNT HD, A&E HD, National Geographic HD, TBS HD, Syfy HD, History HD, The Travel Channel HD, Food Network HD, FX HD and AMC HD.

Suddenlink customers must have an HD television set connected to a Suddenlink HD receiver (or another HD receiver with a Suddenlink cable card) in order to view “HD Basic” channels. Suddenlink’s “HD Broadcast” channels can be viewed without a Suddenlink HD receiver or cable card, if customers have HD televisions sets with a built-in QAM tuner. Television set manufacturers and/or retailers should be able to verify whether or not an HD set has a built-in QAM tuner.

The all-digital upgrade project began in August and was completed neighborhood by neighborhood. Customers were notified directly as changes took place. Digital TV offers superior picture and sound quality.

The service upgrades are part of a larger, three-year, companywide program that calls for approximately $350 million of capital investments above and beyond traditional capital spending levels.

Suddenlink Communications (suddenlink.com) is the seventh largest cable operator in the United States, supporting the information, communication and entertainment demands of approximately 1.4 million residential customers and thousands of commercial customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia and elsewhere. Suddenlink simplifies its customers’ lives through one call for support, one connection, and one bill for TV, Internet, phone and other services.
