Connecting to Those in Need Program Cited as Among Nation’s Bests

ALEXANDRIA, La. (May 2, 2013) – Suddenlink announced that its Alexandria, La., system is a finalist in the cable industry’s 2013 Beacon Awards competition for its efforts on the annual Connecting to Those in Need food collection program. Sponsored by the Association of Cable Communicators (ACC), the national Beacon Awards competition recognizes excellence in communications and public affairs throughout the cable industry.

The food collection campaign was created in 2007 to assist The Food Bank of Central Louisiana. To date, the program has collected more than 115 tons of food or monetary equivalent.

Forty-two cable communications and public affairs professionals chose the 2013 Beacon Award finalists during an extensive judging process. Winners of 2013 Beacon Awards will be announced during a Beacon Awards dinner and ceremony May 9 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill as part of ACC's annual conference.

“Finalist status is truly an outstanding achievement, and the requirements to become a finalist are more demanding than ever before,” said Steve Jones, executive director, ACC. “These award-winning projects reflect the cable industry’s strong commitment to communications and public affairs and continuing efforts to provide quality entertainment, technological advances, and educational initiatives to communities across the country.”
