Suddenlink Upgrading to All-Digital TV in Lecompte
Some TV Sets May Require Digital Adapters
LECOMPTE, La. (Aug. 23, 2012) – Suddenlink announced
today that it is upgrading technology in Lecompte as part of
a larger, three-year, companywide program that calls for
approximately $350 million of capital investments above and
beyond traditional capital spending levels.
The first phase of local work in Lecompte will facilitate a
new, all-digital TV lineup. Digital TV features superior
picture and sound quality. The transition to the new lineup
will be completed as early as the end of September.
Suddenlink customers in Lecompte will soon receive
information by mail notifying them about a process for
getting and installing digital adapters – also known as
“DigitaLinks” – which enable digital channel viewing.
Customers will generally require these devices, if their TV
sets:
* Are not connected to a Suddenlink digital cable box, also
known as a set-top box or receiver
* Do not have a Suddenlink CableCARD installed
* Are not connected to a digital cable-ready device – such
as a TiVo box – with a Suddenlink CableCARD installed.
The company will provide DigitaLink devices for all
customers’ TV sets that require them. There is no up-front
fee or monthly charge, and customers who do not wish to
install these devices on their own can schedule free
professional installation through Suddenlink.
When the transition to the new lineup is completed,
customers will have access to more than 160 new channels,
including many high-definition (HD) channels and Video on
Demand (VOD) service. Suddenlink also will launch High Speed
Internet 20.0 service, featuring a download speed up to 20
Megabits per second (Mbps). It will be the fastest
residential Internet service in the area.
